What version of Lightspeed is required?
Lightspeed 3.6 is required for Lightspeed OnSite Mobile 1.5. Do not update to Lightspeed OnSite Mobile 1.5 if you are currently running Lightspeed 3.4.x and do not have plans to upgrade to Lightspeed 3.6 or later immediately.
How does Lightspeed OnSite Mobile connect to a Lightspeed database?
Lightspeed OnSite Mobile can connect to a Lightspeed database over Wi-fi, 3G or over a VPN.
Does Lightspeed OnSite Mobile count as a user license when logged into the Lightspeed database?
Yes. You need a Lightspeed Server with 1 available user license per Lightspeed OnSite Mobile client. For example: A 5-User Lightspeed Server can allow concurrent logins from up to 5 Mac or Mobile clients at one time. It is recommended that you upgrade your Lightspeed installation to accommodate any additional Lightspeed OnSite Mobile clients.
How do I keep my Lightspeed OnSite Mobile app up-to-date?
Periodically, Lightspeed OnSite Mobile updates through the iTunes App Store will become available for download. Unless otherwise stated, you would not need to update your Lightspeed installation for Mac.
What is the Lightspeed OnSite Mobile Hardware Kit?
The Lightspeed OnSite Mobile Hardware Kit is compatible with the iPod touch 4th generation or iPhone 4, and includes the Linea-pro "sled" and charging cable. The Linea-pro looks like a case for the iPod touch or iPhone, and adds a barcode scanner and credit card swipe to the unit. It also includes a battery pack to power the scanner. The included USB-A to Mini-B cable allows you to charge the Linea-pro and mobile device simultaneously by connecting to a desktop Mac.

Can I use Lightspeed OnSite Mobile without the Hardware Kit?
Yes, but you will not be able to scan product barcodes or swipe credit cards. However you can search for products and process credit cards manually.
Can I use Lightspeed OnSite Mobile on iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS?
Yes, but these products cannot be used with the Hardware Kit. A device running iOS 4.0 or higher is required.
Can I use Lightspeed OnSite Mobile on iPad?
No, Lightspeed OnSite Mobile is currently only available for the iPod touch and iPhone.
Can I use the Lightspeed OnSite Mobile with other iPhone or iPod credit card swipes?
Can I connect to a Lightspeed Server with Bonjour?
Yes, Lightspeed OnSite Mobile will allow you to find and connect to Lightspeed installations and demos on your wireless network over Bonjour.
Can I search for customers in my Lightspeed database and attach them to an invoice?
Can I enter a Walk In customer?
Can I sell products with serial numbers?
Yes, serial numbers can be scanned with a Linea-pro or entered manually.
Can I do returns or activate/redeem gift cards?
These actions are not supported in Lightspeed OnSite Mobile, and must currently be done on the Mac version of Lightspeed.
What barcodes can be read by the Linea-pro?
The Linea-pro can read UPC barcodes printed on product boxes as well as CODE39 (C39) barcodes generated by Lightspeed's Print Product Labels feature. The Linea-pro scanner may not be able to read very small barcodes customized with the Label Designer feature, so it is recommended that stores test scanning custom labels before labelling their inventory.
Can I edit line items on an invoice?
Yes, you can edit quantities, discounts and product descriptions if the product is set up to have an editable description.
Can I email receipts?
Lightspeed OnSite Mobile can email receipts to customers if the Mail Server is configured in the Lightspeed setup panel. Emails are sent via Lightspeed server.
Can I print receipts?
Lightspeed OnSite Mobile can print receipts via Lightspeed Server to select local or networked Star Micronics printers. Printing requires Lightspeed 3.4.4 or higher.
Can customers pay by credit card?
Yes. You must have a valid credit card processing account set up in Lightspeed to use this feature. Customers can sign for their purchase directly in Lightspeed OnSite Mobile with their finger or by using a stylus, and their receipt is e-mailed to them at the end of the transaction.
What credit card processors are supported?
Lightspeed OnSite Mobile processes credit card payments on the Lightspeed Server, so it supports all credit card processors supported by Lightspeed. These processors include Axia, Merchant Warehouse, Authorize.net and Tyro Payments. At this time, credit card processing is only available for U.S. customers and for Australian customers using Tyro Payments. Read the Tyro Payments FAQ for more information on using Lightspeed OnSite Mobile in Australia. Lightspeed is currently exploring processing options for international installations.
Can customers pay by cash, debit, cheque, gift card, etc?
Upon completing an invoice, a sales representative can click the "Use Other Payment Method" button, which allows them to continue the transaction on Lightspeed's POS screen on a Mac station using a connected cash drawer or external terminal.
Can I use Lightspeed OnSite Mobile with the Tills feature in Lightspeed?
Yes, Lightspeed OnSite Mobile can join a till and process payments if the Tills feature is enabled in Lightspeed.
